Why Good Suppliers are Key When it Comes to Property Maintenance.

In property maintenance, no two days — or jobs — are ever the same. From a burst pipe in a commercial unit, to a faulty shutter at a retail store, or a leaking roof in an office block, our engineers tackle it all with skill and efficiency. Each is a multi-skilled technician, arriving in a fully stocked van with the tools and materials needed to complete most jobs quickly and with minimal fuss.

But as the saying goes, infantry win battles, logistics win wars — and it’s every bit as true in property maintenance. Even the best engineers can’t work miracles without the right support behind them. That’s why, whether it’s planned or reactive maintenance, we rely heavily on our extensive network of trusted suppliers. They make sure we have a steady, dependable supply of tools, materials, and consumables, keeping projects on track and clients’ properties running smoothly, no matter what surprises come our way.

The value of reliable suppliers

Recently, I wrote about one of our fantastic subcontractors. Today, I want to shine a light on another critical part of our success: the army of suppliers we depend on daily, and in particular, PGR Timber (https://www.pgrtimber.co.uk).

Based like us in the South East of England, PGR has been our preferred timber supplier for the last * years. We’re big believers in supporting local businesses wherever we can, but more importantly, we value suppliers who truly understand the pace and unpredictability of our work.

Given the fast-moving, often unpredictable, and hugely varied nature of reactive maintenance, it can be challenging to find suppliers who carry the variety of products we need and can match our urgency. This is where PGR truly stands out — always maintaining a broad stock and ensuring quick turnarounds, so we can keep delivering for our clients without unnecessary delays.

A recent example: O’Neills Leytonstone

A great example of this partnership in action is our ongoing work at O’Neills Leytonstone (part of Mitchells & Butlers PLC), where we’re giving their beer garden a much-needed new lease of life.

When our technician first arrived, he found the decking in need of a refresh: with a weather-worn frame, sagging boards, and the whole lot covered in bright green astro-turf. Over the next few days, our engineer carefully stripped out the damaged wood and rebuilt the area from the ground up, installing fresh new decking with a sturdy mix of 4x2 and 6x2 wooden beams and textured decking planks.
